Animal intelligence.

Occasionally, you may overhear someone commenting,” he is an animal.”
Is he comparing the person with a flatworm or an octopus. Do not be surprised to hear that flatworms and octopuses are animals with intelligence.
Remember George the Octopus of Germany. George could predict the winning soccer team almost flawlessly during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Biologists, Psychologists, Neurologists, and Fortune tellers were all puzzled and could not offer any answer to George's ability to foresee events. However, if you are an Indian, you would say that it is easy, as George had “Divya Chakshoo” - a Sanskrit word meaning divine eye, which empowers one to foresee events.
The brain of an octopus is tiny compared to that of a human; moreover, the brain of an octopus has no frontal cortex where all inputs are integrated, analyzed, and interpreted. That is necessary for intelligence to develop.
Dogs and cats are intelligent animals, and their levels of intelligence are comparable to those of 3 - to 4-year-old children. Dogs and cats are the favorite pets of the modern family, and some even describe their pets in terms of family members. A few generations earlier, when most families lived in villages and engaged in agriculture, they considered horses and cows in the same terms.
However, Biologists rank the great apes as the most intelligent animals. They share 97 to 99 % DNA with us. Orangutans share 97 % of human DNA and came first. They have complex social structures, use tools and sign language, and understand 'why' according to experts.
Chimpanzees share 99 % of human DNA, but are ranked third. Most of us have watched PBS documentaries about chimpanzees interacting with their keepers and with the pioneer researcher, Jane Goodall. We had expected chimps would top the list.
Bottlenose Dolphins ranked second. They use their own species-specific language. They have devised hunting strategies and cooperate in large numbers in hunting expeditions; they also have common nurseries to look after the young dolphins. They have impressive memory, and an individual dolphin can recognize its own TV picture.
These animals also made this list, among them are: Elephants, octopuses, pigs, parrots, pigeons, and rats.
Biologists working with flatworms proved that flatworms are intelligent animals. If that is so, why then have we waited for Einstein for the theory of General Relativity.
