God Particle.
P.K.Ghatak, MD
A Nobel laureate Physicist, Leon Lederman wrote a book in 1990, and he titled his book - Goddamn Particle. Lederman was talking about 40 years of hard research to detect this subatomic particle. It was frustrating work because of the elusive nature of he particle. The existence of this subatomic particle was predicted by an Indian Physicist Satyendra Nath Bose and Albert Einstein in 1920. This very transient subatomic particle gives mass to all other subatomic particles before vanishing.
The publisher of the book was a wise man. Anticipating bad publicity, he changed the title God Particle. Despite objections from the author and other scientists, the name not only survived but flourished. The God Particle is always mentioned in any discussion of the Big Bang and how mass came into existence from energy, immediately following the Big Bang. Without the formation of mass from energy, no nebula, star, planet, or us would be here.
The scientific name of the God Particle is the Higgs boson particle. Peter Higgs was a British Theoretical Physicist. In 1964, he proved mathematically the mechanism through which the Higgs boson particle would be found. He received the Nobel Prize with two other scientists following the discovery of the Higgs boson particle in 2013. The Nobel committee cited his work -” for the theoretical discovery of a mechanism that contributes to our understanding of the origin of mass of subatomic particles, and which recently was confirmed through the discovery of the predicted fundamental particle by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at CERN's Large Hadron Collider.”
Mr. Robert Lea, a science journalist, clearly states that boson is Satendra Nath Bose and says, “Bosons are social particles and the Cosmos will be a dull place without them.” All other publications mentioned that "Einstein and other scientists" (instead of the usual practice: Einstein and Bose) predicted the existence of this particle in 1920.
But you will never know who is “boson”. Because his name is deliberately obscured by coining the name boson. Boson is none other than Satyendra Nath Bose.
Why was this done:
India at that time was under the colonial British rule. The British at that time considered Indians to have inferior intellect and fit to be their servants, not considered to become world-class experts in Einstein's theory of General Relativity and contribute significantly. They made sure Bose and those like him did not go further.
