Is death the end of a person. Can science provide a definite answer to this age-old question of the ultimate fate of the life force of the diseased. One does not have to be a scientist to define what is living and what is dead. Humans are not the only living thing on this earth - plants, animals, and even bacteria also live here. Any scientific theory is acceptable as a fact if it is valid in every instance and in every condition. That means we must recognize that every non–human living organism also has a life-force or a soul.

That idea is rejected by all Western people who consider themselves religious. But a vast majority of people of the Eastern world readily acknowledge that every living thing has within its body an ethereal body which is a tiny part of the ever-lasting spirit or the Creator. And after death, that spirit hangs around this earth. And many consider that it is a ghost. This difference between West and East is due to Western religions being dogmatic do not tolerate any decent; and the East, on the other hand, asks their devotees to search their own minds to find the truth. But why, after death, does that loving person's spirit turn mischievous and violent at times.

There are so many ghost stories floating around us in print, movies, and social media, which have a wide following that is bound to produce at least some doubts in the minds of believers in scientific facts only.

Houdini, the famous magician and escape artist, had made a pact with his mother to come back after her death and tell him what kind of afterlife there was. Houdini waited and waited, but her spirit did not speak to him. Houdini undertook a worldwide tour of countries that practiced seance and planchet sessions to communicate with the departed souls. Houdini found the fraud and deception in the practices and caught them in the act. It is said that Houdini promised to return to tell how that was after he died. But he, too, was a no-show. However, it does not prove that his spirit was not around just because the spirit could not talk.

What Houdini did not know is that to produce sound, we need to convert the metabolic energy (ATP stored from metabolism) into a sound wave, and for that, we require a material body.
