Psychologists say obstruction to admitting mistakes, even to oneself, is due to ego, fear of judgment, cognitive dissonance, and confirmation bias. However, at the end of the day, honesty and humility win. This I have recently experienced.

Many elderly retirees have plenty of time at hand, and live alone after the deaths of their spouses, and due to various health reasons unable to participate in outdoor activities others are happily engaged. Each of the retirees, however, has many stories to tell, if only they take the time to write and upload them on the Internet. I am not talking about entering a contest to win the Bridgeport or Booker prize, but to leave some useful and entertaining stories for their friends and family to read.

I offered my assistance to a dear friend to open a new blog because I thought I had enough experience in such activities, since I have been engaged in writing blogs for a number of years.

It did not take much time for me to realize that the format of the latest blog had changed, and I could not proceed. I admitted this to my friend. I opened this new blog: ghataksays.blogspot.com, and used this blog to help him create his blog.

I called it a New Day, a day I should remember.
